4 of the Best Towns in Mississippi You Need to Visit

Natchez

One of our favorite cities in Mississippi is Natchez. Not only is it a lovely, friendly town to visit, but it’s also filled with wonderful things to see. Learn about the 17th-century Natchez Indians at the Grand Village, tour the stunning Longwood historical manor, and make sure you stop by Roux 61 for a delectable lunch! We also highly recommend the Natchez Pilgrimage Tours. If you’re a history buff looking to discover authentic Mississippi plantations, it’s the best way to do it!

Vicksburg

Another great stop to make during your Mississippi road trip is Vicksburg. It’s a fabulous, historical place to see, especially if you’re passionate about the Civil War era! Start your visit at the Vicksburg National Military Park, which is the precise location of the battlegrounds, then explore the USS Cairo and its museum! End the day with a spooky tour of the most haunted places in town. Who knows, you might hear a few Civil War soldiers whisper in your ear as you walk by the McRaven House!

Greenwood

Greenwood is a fun day trip to take from Jackson. It’s the perfect destination if you want to relax and take it slow. Indulge in a little retail therapy at the Delta Emporium, learn about the history of the state at the Museum of the Mississippi Delta, and unwind with some of the most delicious food at Greenwood’s restaurants. The Crystal Grill is one of our favorites and serves a mouthwatering meringue you need to try.

Jackson

We saved the best town in Mississippi for last! Jackson is a thriving and exciting place to visit — and to stay! There’s so much to see and do here that it might take you several days. Between the wide variety of museums you can explore and delightful neighborhoods you can stroll through, you won’t have a minute to get bored. Visit the Farmers Market, discover the home of award-winning author Eudora Welty, enjoy a chocolate malt at Brent’s Drugs, and more!
